Why Choose AMI?

For over 70 years, AMI has been manufacturing kalimbas and for over 20, it has set the standard for excellent marimbas. With instrument designs finessed by musician/engineer, Christian Carver, AMI instruments guarantee many years of good music making.

We have Four Priorities:
Priority One: Ongoing customer service – we’ve been in the instrument business for over 70 years and we’re not going anywhere. We’re here to maintain your instruments, and we’ll be here when you find you need more instruments!
Priority Two: Great sound – our trio of tuning procedures ensures the best tuned notes available, maximising resonance and compatibility with Western tuned instruments.
Priority Three: Strength – robust, solid, instruments that withstand energetic (not abusive) playing, stand strong and stable, with notes that don’t fall off and get lost, and robust construction that allows them to be moved safely from one place to another.
Priority Four: Easy to use, pack up and transport – This is especially true with AMI marimbas because our marimbas’ metal frames fold neatly for your convenience. This is essential for bands that move around to practice or perform. The keyboards detach from the frame so each marimba packs down into two parts – the keyboard/frame, and the resonators.
Priority Five: Advice – Our dream team includes music education expert Dr Mandy Carver. Mandy can advise on all aspects of music education, whether you are setting up a new programme, or seeking to invigorate an old one, or wondering how to include more African content.

When you’re investing in musical instruments it pays to:

  1. Know who you are buying from.
  2. Know that you are getting quality instruments.
  3. Know that with the right care, your instruments will last for generations to come.

At AMI we are proud of our reputation and value our relationships with our customers. Excellent instruments and friendly service keeps them coming back.
